Knox Community Financial Services Ltd, owner of the franchises for both the Ferntree Gully and Rowville Community Bank® Branches, began in late 2000 after the Village in Ferntree Gully was left without any banking services.  Local residents decided to take matters into their own hands to open a Community Bank®.  With over 450 shareholders a franchise was granted and the Ferntree Gully Community Bank® Branch opened in November 2000 and operated from premises at 81 Station Street.

The bank continued to prosper and grow seeing the Ferntree Gully Branch moving to new premises at 67 Station Street in 2005, expanding into Rowville with a Branch opening in August 2004 and in April 2013 opening an agency in Scoresby Village.

In the fourteen years since inception, the Community Bank® Group has returned in excess of $2.5 million to the community via donations, community grants and sponsorship.  These funds have gone to organisations within the area including sporting clubs, churches, disability groups, aged care facilities, educational groups etc.  By providing an initial community grant of $5,000 to a local sporting facility, this facility was able to leverage further funding from local government, local business and volunteer labour to build a coach's box and storage facility.   The initial seed funding ended up producing a finished product to the value of $35,000.  A valuable addition to the local sporting fraternity.  This is replicated with the majority of our grants, donations and sponsorship.

Your Community Bank® plans to continue to pour money back into the community with the continued support of its customers.  The Branches in Ferntree Gully and Rowville and the Scoresby agency offer a full array of banking services as well as providing friendly professional service to all our customers.  After 14 years, the community company continues to contribute to securing a prosperous future for your communities.
